Testing

Sexual health screens (or tests) are a way to find out whether you may have picked up an infection.

They can be done at your local sexual health clinic. Tests include a throat swab, peeing into a container, rectal/vaginal swab or blood test. Each one of these will test for different infections. You will have to wait a couple weeks or so before your results.

It is important to detect any infections early so the right medication can be given to clear it or help control it. Knowing you have an infection means that you can take steps to stop passing it on to others.

If you have a regular partner then SHOCT Kernow recommends a test at least annually

If you have more than one casual or regular partner then we recommend testing every 3 months
