Genital Warts
Type of infection
Viral infection (Human Papilloma Virus or HPV for short) which
shows up as small fleshy ‘cauliflower’ bumps on or around the
genitals.
Symptoms

Itching and/or bleeding on or around the genitals or asshole

A single or number of small fleshy ‘cauliflower’ lumps or growths on or around the genitals or asshole
Cause

Sharing sex toys without using a condom each time or washing them between partners

Unprotected sex, be it vaginal, anal or oral, with an infected person
-
Skin to skin contact

Remember…..they may not know that they have it because they haven’t had any symptoms.
Treatment
If you get an outbreak of warts then the clinic may suggest a treatment that is either a cream, lotion or chemical to apply over a period of time or getting them frozen, burn them off or remove them.
Treatment may take several months.
There is a vaccine for teenage girls that protects against cervical cancer that is caused by HPV. Women over the age of 18 are not able to get the vaccine.
Remember…..use a condom to help reduce the chance of getting or passing on the virus, however, if the virus is on or around the asshole or vagina then it may still be passed onto someone else.
