SHOCT Kernow is a new independent venture within the South West of England that has been set up with the intention of providing sexual health and HIV awareness workshops, training, consultancy and outreach services to the LGBTQ community as well as statutory and non-statutory organisations within Cornwall.

4 of Cornwall’s sexual health strategic priorities from 2016 relate directly to this project:

  • Reduce rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) amongst people of all ages

  • Reduce onward transmission of, and avoidable deaths from, HIV

  • To promote relationships, sexual health and sexuality as a fundamental aspect of everyone’s health and wellbeing

  • Using innovation and collaboration to deliver financially sustainable models that deliver high quality outcomes

SHOCT Kernow is focused on the principle that peer led interventions will enhance as well as complement existing sexual health and HIV service interventions. SHOCT Kernow believes that peer led interventions and training can empower members of the community and wider sector to become indirect facilitators of good sexual health and HIV prevention.
